MARCH MADNESS Round Three (Silent/30's ERA)

As we head into the week-end, the four remaining actresses will face off in 2 semi-final matches starting Friday morning. You will have two days to vote on who is your favorite and the winners of those 2 matches will face off Sunday to become the first actress to snatch up a final four spot. Below are the two semi-final matches and I'm very nervous about my girl Carole Lombard battling the red hot Myrna Loy, who has just destroyed her first two competitors: Jean Harlow and Greta Garbo. But Carole is the sole remaining top 4 seed left so maybe she's got enough fans to get her to the final round at the end of the month. In the other match the suddenly rejuvenated Irene Dunne will square off against the quietly, going about her business Claudette Colbert. That match could go either way. I am a little surprised no silent film star made it to a semi-final match, especially Garbo. When it's all said and done, one of these lovely ladies will have a spot in the Final Four at the end of this month and a chance to win favorite classic movie actress of All Good Things. Polls will open at 6AM EST. Here is the setup that has has been building up since Monday:

4 CAROLE LOMBARD

                 VS

9 MYRNA LOY

----------------------------------

6 CLAUDETTE COLBERT

                   VS

10 IRENE DUNNE

  1. I love them all but you know I'll vote for our dear Carole and obviously, for Irene - the best - Dunne =)

    This is exciting!!

  2. What was the final tally on Loy vs. Garbo? For some reason, it's not coming up on my computer.

An intriguing final four, that's for sure.

  3. VP, the final tally was Loy 60-13 over Garbo. I'm a little worried about Carole facing Myrna. Loy has been super hot in this tournament.

  4. I do believe whoever wins the Loy/Lombard match will be heading to the final four at the end of the month.

  5. Monty, I am SO glad I discovered your blog. I am loving it. After all, as I've said before, I can never get enough of talking about the classics.

You have really put alot of time and effort into this tournament. It's such fun. Thanks so much for doing this. I'll be by tomorrow to cast my vote, though since I actually like Myrna more than Carole, you might wish I wouldn't vote, huh?

  6. Thanks for the kind words Patti. And I love Myrna as well, but I love Carole more. It should be an interesting match. I think it will be very close and not a blowout like the previous ones.
