TANGLED is one of Disney's best new films

Just watched Tangled last night which happens to be Disney's 50th animated film and it was a terrific film. First off, the animation is top notch, and it rivals the computer generated images of the Pixar films. Frankly, it's one of the best looking films I have ever seen. The colors and images are just astounding. The story deals with the well known Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore) who is locked away in a tower by her evil step-mom. You see Rapuznel's golden hair has special powers that keeps her step-mom forever young and can heal anyone or anything. The step-mom is not too keen on sharing her with anyone, especially since she stole Rapuznel from the king and queen when she was born. Anyway cut to the dashing thief Flynn Rider (voiced by Zachary Levi of the TV series Chuck) who reminds me of Jack Colton (the character from Romancing the Stone and Errol Flynn). He stumbles upon the tower fleeing from palace guards and a relentless horse named Maximus. You see Flynn just stole a prized jewel from the King's castle because he's a thief and that's what he does. So he meets Rapunzel who knocks him out with a frying pan and their adventure begins. She yearns to venture outside to see the world and he reluctantly agrees to take her so he can get his jewels back. The two will have to deal with the evil step-mom, palace guards, Maximus, some criminal brothers that Flynn double-crossed and all kinds of mishaps.

There are elements of screwball comedy mixed in with the derring do and romance and the occassional song. Mandy Moore is excellent as Rapunzel as she handles the comedy and drama well. She is actually a talented actress that doesn't get the credit she deserves. Levi is also good as Flynn. And the two make quite the pair. Tangled is one of the best films from 2010. I even liked it more than Toy Story 3. Because it was so much fun and very exciting.
