Happy birthday to "The King of Chutzpah" Phil Silvers - who would be 100 years old today.

He is maybe best-known as Sergeant Bilko from his own THE PHIL SILVERS SHOW.

• Phil Silvers wrote the lyrics for Frank Sinatra's hit song "Nancy (with the laughing face)" (it was for some other girls before it became "Nancy" - and a hit..)

  After a surgery he did not need glasses anymore. But beacause they were his trademark he would go on wearing them - just without any glass in the frames.
