First round of Hitchcock tourney yields no surprises

The first round of the 30's era of the favorite Hitchcock film tournament yielded no surprises as the top seeds rolled in their matches. Top seed The Lady Vanishes blanked 8th seed Number Seventeen ironically enough 17-0. Second seed The 39 Steps had little trouble with 7th seed Murder! shutting that film out 15-0. Third seed The Man Who Knew Too Much easily handled Young and Innocent 13-2. And the match between 4th seed The Secret Agent and 5th seed Sabotage was the lone mild upset as Sabotage won 11-3. So on to round 2 with these next two matches which begin immediately and will run thru Tuesday 8 pm EST.

Aw, I was one of the two who voted Young and Innocent. It's been a long time since I saw it, but I saw The Man Who Knew Too Much fairly recently and was really underwhelmed. So much so that I liked the remake better, and the remake is pretty far down my Hitchcock list. Glad to see Sabotage won out, though! That's an underrated film.
