Classic Movie/TV Cars Race Polls

Hey everyone, got a new event going on my blog starting today. I compete in a NASCAR fantasy league, picking drivers who I think will do good each Sunday. It dawned on me that I could do something like that on here, focusing on classic movie and TV cars. Cars that are iconic and known through-out the world. And I decided to invite my friends who play in that league to choose their favorite car to compete in a race/poll. Eight of us will be competing so I broke it down into two polls. First one begins today, and the second begins next Sunday. The winner from each poll will then face off in the third and final match to declare a champion. And if it goes well this will be the start of a regular series as their are tons more cars we can choose from. So here is the line-up for the first match featuring 4 competitors:

82 AMC DeLorean (Back to the Future) Captain: Josh
77 Pontiac Trans-Am (Smokey and the Bandit Captain: Joan
55 Lincoln Futura (Batmobile, 1960's) Captain: Jason
63 Volkswagen Model 117 Beetle (The Love Bug) Captain: Cassandra

This match will run through Friday afternoon..good luck to everyone..now start those engines!!
And remember its one vote per person but you can vote from different devices, i.e. laptop, tablet, smartphone..

Congratulations to Jimmy Stewart in winning the 2016 Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney

Well it's official...Jimmy Stewart is the Favorite Classic Movie Actor of 2016 after defeating William Powell 28-22. Jimmy joins the tourney's first winner Cary Grant and he pretty much dominated from the get go. His match with William Powell was his closest one. I like to thank John of Mythical Monkey who  helped me put on this 2nd annual actor's tourney and to all those who voted. We'll do it again soon.

Happy 100th Birthday Olivia de Havilland: my review of GOVERNMENT GIRL (1943)

Government Girl (1943) is a vastly underrated and little known Olivia movie that is fun to watch.  Olivia plays Elizabeth "Smokey" Allard, a Washington secretary who knows the ins and outs of Washington DC as war is ongoing and weapons must be made. Also the housing shortage is in full affect as Smokey does her best to find her gal pal May (played by Anne Shirley) and her beau a hotel room for their honeymoon. In the meantime auto make ED Browne (played by Sonny Tufts) arrives in time to see what he can do to help production. Of course he doesn't know how to deal with the politics of Washington so Smokey lends a hand. This is B movie but it is still fun to watch. Some say Olivia over-reacts in her performance but I think it's fun. She is ably supported by Tufts, Shirley, Agnes Moorehead, Harry Davenport and Una O'Connor. I recommend this delightful little movie for those who have never seen it.   Oh best scene is where Smokey and May get drunk to try and get some information from an unsavory character. Olivia is hysterical!
