Hall Of Fame Inductee for December: CAROLE LOMBARD

It's been ages since I did an induction for my Hall of Fame and it occurred to me that Carole Lombard, my favorite actress had not been inducted yet. My oh my, that has to be corrected. Carole's achievements include winning a Montie for Best Actress for her performance in My Man Godfrey and winning the 2013 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tournament. And plus she is my favorite! Haha! Just kidding, those two previous achievements are more than enough to get her into All Good Things Hall of Fame! Congratulations Carole!

Hall Of Fame Inductee for July: OLIVIA DE HAVILLAND

It's been awhile since I inducted someone into my Hall of Fame. Since January as a matter of fact. Sorry about that. But the inductee for July will make up for all those absent months. I hereby welcome Olivia de Havilland to All Good Things Hall of Fame. She earned that achievement by recently picking up her third Montie award, Best Actress for The Snake Pit (1948). She was also recently my star of the week on my FB page and is a regular mainstay here on my blog. So let's give Olivia a nice warm applause for this wonderful occasion.

Hall Of Fame Inductees for January: Hitch and Princess Grace

Another month means two more inductees for All Good Things Hall Of Fame. And they have a connection to each other. Alfred Hitchcock and Grace Kelly. Kelly starred in three of Hitch's films during the 50's: Rear Window, Dial M For Murder and To Catch A Thief. Here are the qualifications that got them both into the Hall of Fame.

First Grace Kelly is one of my mainstays here on my blog. She is second only to Carole Lombard in the number of posts I have written about her. 78 counting this one. Carole has 79. She has won a trophy for Favorite Leading Lady in a Hitchcock film, in a tourney I did last winter. Previously, her film Rear Window grabbed Best Hitchcock Film in a similar tourney a year before that. And she has made it to the final four in the two Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tourneys I hold every year. All so close to winning that trophy as well. The only thing Grace hasn't done is won a Montie (my version of the Oscars) and the only reason that is, because I am only on year 1947. So in due time, she may win one of those as well.

and To Catch A Thief...well in my book they are!

Now Hitchcock has won a Montie. He won Best Director for one of my favorite films of his, Shadow of A Doubt. Marking only the second director to gain entrance to the Hall of Fame. The other being, William Wyler. And we haven't hit his peak period yet, so who knows how many more Monties he can win. So give a warm welcome to Grace and Alfred as the new members of AGT's Hall Of Fame.

Hall Of Fame Inductees for December: GRETA GARBO and JEAN HARLOW

I know I missed during an induction for my Hall of Fame last month but was busy with work and stuff. Here I am to present two inductees for the month of December though. Two of the most iconic classic film actresses ever..Greta Garbo and Jean Harlow. Both gain admittance to the Hall of Fame by virtue of their Montie winning performances as Best Actress for their respective films.

First up, Greta won her Montie (my version of the Oscar for those new to my blog) for her grand performance as Grusinskaya the Dancer in 1932's Grand Hotel. Some will say it is not such a great performance and that co-star Joan Crawford delivered the better performance. I can argue for both points as I also awarded Joan a Montie as Best Supporting Actress for her role as Flaemmchen. I do like Greta's work here in Hotel but it is not my favorite performance of hers. That would be Ninotchka. Regardless, she is now in All Good Things Hall of Fame.

And our second inductee is none other than Jean Harlow. Jean nabbed a Best Actress Montie for 1933's Bombshell, one of my all time favorite screwball comedies. As major screen star Lola Burns, Jean is on fire and gives one of her best film performances ever. And now she joins an exclusive club in my Hall of Fame.

Give a warm welcome to these two legendary film actresses. I will return next month with two more inductees.

Hall Of Fame Inductees for October: Jean Arthur and Errol Flynn

Another month means two more inductees for my Hall of Fame.This month it is Jean Arthur and Errol Flynn. Both get in thanks to their Montie wins. Both from the same year of 1938. Jean won as Best Actress for You Can't Take It With You, a marvelous performance by the way. And Errol won Best Actor as the dashing Robin Hood. Give a warm welcome to Jean and Errol for being inducted in All Good Things Hall Of Fame.

Hall Of Fame Inductees for September: WILLIAM POWELL and MYRNA LOY

I apologize for the lateness of my selections for All Good Things Hall Of Fame. I should have been posted this, but since it is only October 1st, I think it's still ok. My pair to take that walk into the Hall of Fame is none other than William Powell and Myrna Loy. One of the most beloved screen couples of all time. Best known for the chemistry as Nick and Nora Charles in six Thin Man films, the pair also made eight other films, bringing their total to 14. How did they get into the Hall of Fame you may ask? I will tell ya. I started my Monties (my version of the Oscars) with 1934 and The Thin Man pretty much swept that year. In fact it did sweep. I only had four categories that year and The Thin Man won every one of them. Including Powell and Loy as best actor and actress. So congratulate the pair as they enter into my Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame new inductees for the month: Ginger Rogers and Rosalind Russell

A new month brings two more inductees for my Hall of Fame. Two more wonderful women. Ginger Rogers and Rosalind Russell.

Ginger earns his way into All Good Things Hall Of Fame thanks to her complete annihilation of other actresses in this year's Favorite Classic Actress tourney. I mean she crushed her competitors with some very lop-sided victories. Even took down my girl Carole Lombard. She joins first tourney winner Irene Dunne in that regard of inductees entering the hall of fame.

Rosalind Russell gets in thanks to her recent Montie win for Best Actress of 1940. Her memorable turn as reporter Hildy Burns is one for the ages. It's my favorite movie of all time and it's my favorite performance of hers.

So that brings the total to eight people currently in the Hall of Fame. Be back next month with two more additions.

Hall of Fame new inductees this month: William Wyler and Claude Rains

This month I proudly induct director William Wyler and actor Claude Rains into my Hall of Fame. William Wyler just picked up his third Montie for Best Director of The Best Years Of Our Lives, which gives him three so far. He won previously for These Three (1936) and Mrs. Miniver (1942).  And he may not be done yet. And Claude Rains is also a multiple Montie winner. Having won Best Actor for The Invisible Man (1933) and Best Supporting Actor for Casablanca (1942). Give a big welcome to both these fine and outstanding gentlemen.

Give a warm welcome to Joan Crawford and Eve Arden. You may ask how did these two outstanding women get in. Well because both are multiple Montie award winners. Both have won 2 supporting actresses awards. Joan earned two Monties for Grand Hotel (1932) and The Women (1939), while Eve won two Monties for Stage Door (1937) and Mildred Pierce (1945) which paired her ironically enough with Joan.

ALL GOOD THINGS first inductions to it's Hall of Fame

I was toying with the idea of creating a Hall of Fame for all the great stars and directors that I have written and talked about on here. So like most hall of fame things, there are certain criteria to be met to get inducted. I have three. They are as follows:

1.) Winner of a Montie - which everyone knows is my version of the Oscars. So if a certain star or director or writer has won a Montie, that means they are in the mix. If they have won several Monties, then that only increases their chances of getting in.


2.) Winner of a tourney - everyone also knows how much I love staging tournaments featuring actors, actresses, directors and even films against one another. If a person wins a tourney, they are a lock to get inducted. I also say if they do well enough in the tourney but don't win, they will be strongly considered as well. For instance, Grace Kelly and Natalie Wood both made the final four for two years in a row without winning a tourney. That is still an impressive feat.


3.) Can be voted in via a poll - From time to time, I will have polls that will specifically ask should this person be inducted into the hall of fame. 

Looks like we're in Irene, my dear...

I plan to induct two people a month and the first pair chosen is none other than Cary Grant, my favorite actor of all time and Irene Dunne. Why these two you may ask? Let me explain what this pair have accomplished. Cary is a three-time Montie winner (Best Actor for The Awful Truth, His Girl Friday and Penny Serenade) and winner of the 2011 Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney. More than enough qualifications to earn an induction. Meanwhile Irene is no slouch herself being a Montie winner for The Awful Truth and winner of the 2011 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tourney. So please congratulate Cary and Irene as being All Good Things first inductees into the Hall of Fame.
