First round action in the 2017 Classic Movie Actress Tourney is now underway

The 7th Annual Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tourney returns Sunday, March 5th

It's almost that time of year..March Madness, Classic Movie Actress Style, as my 7th annual tournament returns on Sunday March 5th. A field of 64 classic movie actresses, broken down into 4 eras: the 30's, the 40's, the 50's and the 60's will compete in matches voted on by followers to determine the champion actress of 2017. Based on last year finishes, the top 4 seeds are:

Myrna Loy- 30s era
Rosalind Russell- 40s era
Deborah kerr- 50s era
Shirley MacLaine- 60s era

Me and my good friend John of Mythical Monkey will be hosting this year's tourney. I'll have the complete field of actresses competing in my next post. Gonna be fun..can't wait.

February brings Favorite Classic Film Couples Tourney...first set of matches now underway

A new month and a new tourney. Just in time for Valentine's Day, comes The Favorite Classic Film Couples Tourney. 12 films have chosen their 12 favorite couples and will compete in 12 matches over the course of this month.  Broken down into three categories: couples, films, and photos. The first 4 rounds focus on the couples themselves as they will face off against each other for the first 4 matches. Round 1 runs through Monday at noon. Good luck to everyone.

Natalie Wood is crowned Fashion Icon after a terrific tourney run...

Hello everyone..The Fashion Icons has wrapped up and we have a winner....Natalie Wood, three-time Final four finalist and 2015 Favorite Classic Movie Actress Tourney champion. Even though she tied my girl Carole Lombard in the final match at 39 votes, Natalie clinched the Fashion Icons title with an 8-1-1 record, one better than 2nd place finalist Esther Williams, who put on quite a display herself. With the win, Starla Miller receives 50 1st place points and holds the top spot after the first tourney is in the books. With 7 more tourneys scheduled through out the year, this is gonna be fun to see who will walk away as champion for the year. Below are the complete results and updated point standings...

Final matches in the Fashion Icons Tourney: Hairstyles 2nd set now underway

Here we go with the last set of matches in the Fashion Icons Tourney Hairstyles round 2. Natalie Wood has locked up the championship with her win over Irene Dunne last round and now it's just a formality. But for the other actresses competing there is still incentive to finish the best they can because they will be rewarded with points on how they finish. The higher the finish the higher the points.  And with 7 more scheduled tourneys taking place through-out the year it's all about the points, because whoever accumulates the most points at the end of the year will be declared champion for the year.
