THE 50'S ERA
Marilyn had some first round jitters remembering what happened last year, but she need
not worry as she rolled to her first ever tourney victory
Marilyn Monroe, who got bounced last year in the first round by Gloria Grahame, was not about to let that happened again. MM rolled over Joanne Woodward by 40 points, to be the most dominant victory in this era. Top seed Doris Day had little trouble with Jane Russell. I think Doris will like competing in the 50's era. Last year she was in the 60's. Newcomers to the tourney, Vera-Ellen,, Judy Holliday and Thelma Ritter all scored victories to move on to the second round.
VERA-ELLEN def LESLIE CARON 32-27
DEBBIE REYNOLDS def JANE POWELL 40-21
CYD CHARISSE def DOROTHY DANDRIDGE 46-14
JUDY HOLLIDAY def PIER ANGELI 46-10
JANET LEIGH def JAYNE MANSFIELD 49-13

THE 60'S ERA

Thrilled about Hattie's win (it was close there for awhile), though my heart weeps for Jane Russell and Tuesday. Can't wait for the next round!
Uh-oh, monty, I think you should know you accidentally wrote Rosalind Russell instead of Jane russell :)
