Is there ANY question?? IMHO, Walter Neff is one of the greatest Noir roles EVER!! "By the way, Mrs. Didrikson, that's a honey of an anklet!" (when Barbara slinks downstairs in her negligee!)
I think Fred MacMurray's performance in Double Indemnity was worthy of the Academy Award. He was SO against type, and he did it brilliantly.
So true! Especially because he was such a nice guy in real life! But most actors say it is always more rewarding to play something so different, so far from your normal self.
