Leading Men Tourney begins now

So me and 11 of my good friends have selected a classic movie actor to compete in this special edition of The Lombard Cup called Leading Men. 
Here are the 12 stars that will be competing:

Humphrey Bogart
Gregory Peck
Paul Newman
James Stewart
Spencer Tracy
Sidney Poitier

There will be 10 matches between now and the end of May. First 5 matches will pit actor against actor, then the final 5 matches will be films of the chosen actor. Below are the first matches that will run through Tuesday evening.

Whichever star wins the most matches wins the tourney :)

Congratulations to Jimmy Stewart in winning the 2016 Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney

Well it's official...Jimmy Stewart is the Favorite Classic Movie Actor of 2016 after defeating William Powell 28-22. Jimmy joins the tourney's first winner Cary Grant and he pretty much dominated from the get go. His match with William Powell was his closest one. I like to thank John of Mythical Monkey who  helped me put on this 2nd annual actor's tourney and to all those who voted. We'll do it again soon.

2nd Annual Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney Championship Match: William Powell vs James Stewart

Alright, Alright, Alright..we have arrived at the final match in the 2nd annual Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney. It will be 30's era winner William Powell vs 40's era winner James Stewart. This marks both actors first time in the championship match. Powell made it to the final four last time only to lose to 50's era champion William Holden. And Stewart made it to the elite 8 that same year only to lose to eventual tourney winner Cary Grant. The match begins now and will run through Friday evening!

The Final Four in the 2nd Annual Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney is now set and underway

Well we started with 64 classic movie actors and now are down to the final four. An what an interesting final four it is. William Powell, who won the 30's bracket will face 50's era winner John Wayne while 40's era winner James Stewart will face 60's era winner Jack Lemmon.  William Powell is the only previous final four finalist to make it back to the big dance.  The matches will run through Friday afternoon. And I want to thank my good friend John Parker of Mythical Monkey who helped me put on this tourney.

Round 4: Era Finales

Now we get to the exciting part. 4 matches and 8 actors left for the 2nd Annual Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney. One match per era to decide who will represent the final four. 2nd Annual Favorite Classic Movie Actor Tourney is now underway

It's been 3 years since the inaugural Favorite Classic Movie Tourney took place with Cary Grant winning the whole thing. Well here we go with a second tourney, and no Cary since he already won he is ineligible to compete from here on. So now it's wide open and anyone can win. Here are the first set of matches in the 40's and 60's era, which I will handle here and my friend John Parker of Mythical Monkey will handle the 30's and 50's eras. The final matches are over and the winning team of the 2014 Lombard Cup is.....

The final six matches in the 2014 Lombard Cup have wrapped up and Team Carole (my team) won four of them over Team Veronica (Kristen's team). Here are the final numbers:

ROBERT MITCHUM (Team Veronica) defeated DEAN MARTIN (Team Carole) 10-8

PAUL NEWMAN (Team Carole) defeated WILLIAM HOLDEN (Team Veronica) 12-7

STEVE MCQUEEN (Team Carole) defeated MARLON BRANDO (Team Veronica) 12-6

FRED ASTAIRE (Team Carole) defeated VINCENT PRICE (Team Veronica) 13-6

JOHN WAYNE (Team Veronica) defeated BOB HOPE (Team Carole) 12-8

JACK LEMMON (Team Carole) defeated ROBERT REDFORD (Team Veronica) 16-3

So that means Team Carole through 21 matches retains the Lombard Cup by the count of 14-7.
