MARCH MADNESS ROUND ONE RESULTS

GRETA GARBO 26 votes to GLORIA SWANSON 22 votes

MYRNA LOY 36 votes to JEAN HARLOW 13 votes

CAROLE LOMBARD 35 votes to GINGER ROGERS 18 votes

MARLENE DIETRICH 34 votes to MARY PICKFORD 12 votes

IRENE DUNNE 38 votes to CLARA BOW 13 votes

BARBARA STANWYCK 42 votes to JOAN CRAWFORD 8 votes

NORMA SHEARER 29 votes to MARION DAVIES 18 votes

CLAUDETTE COLBERT 40 votes to LOUISE BROOKS 8 votes
Well the opening round has concluded and I must say it was very exciting. Especially early on when my girl Carole was losing to Ginger Rogers. But she pulled away convincingly after that 35 to 18. Most of the top seeds won impressively such as Claudette Colbert 40 votes to 8 votes over Louise Brooks; Barbara Stanwyck just annihilated Joan Crawford 42 to 8. Norma Shearer overcame a slow start and pulled away from Marion Davies 29 to 18. Irene Dunne was all over Clara Bow 38 to 13. Marlene Dietrich routed Mary Pickford 34 to 12. But the big surprise came from what I thought would be the best match of the round. I thought Jean Harlow and Myrna Loy was evenly matched and it would come down to the wire. It wasn't even close. Loy just hammered Harlow from the beginning and never looked back. Final tally was 36 to 13 in favor of Loy. And Number one seed Greta Garbo won her match over Gloria Swanson but it was no walk in the park. She skated by 26 to 22. It was a wild start to this march madness tournament. Glad it had such a huge voter turnout too. So I will post the matchups for Round Two immediately so everyone can begin voting who will keep going on and who won't be continuing.

Wow! See, THIS is why I'm not a betting girl. I *always* loose. The Loy/Harlow and Lombard/Rogers heats were surprising landslides on both accounts! Ah, well. Let's see what's next...

What a neat idea this is. I'm excited to take part.

Have a great day,
Patti

PS My husband would be broken-hearted to know that his gal Ginger lost out. She is his favorite actress of all time!!
