The polls are closed and the five matches for week 2 of The Lombard Cup are now final. Team Carole ends up winning four of the five matches and tying in the fifth match. Doris Day and Maureen O'Hara ended up with 23 votes each, resulting in the first tie of the Lombard Cup. Unlike other match play events, there is no tie-breaker question to continue the match to seek a winner. Instead Team Carole gets a half point and Team Veronica gets a half point. Team Carole receives a total of 4 and a half points thanks to their four victories. Here are the complete results:
Judy Garland (Team Carole) beats Margaret O'Brien (Team Veronica) 36-9
Eleanor Parker (Team Carole) beats Gene Tierney (Team Veronica) 26-20
Romy Schneider (Team Carole) beats Jane Russell (Team Veronica) 25-20
Irene Dunne (Team Carole) beats Katharine Hepburn (Team Veronica) 37-9
Doris Day (Team Carole) and Maureen O'Hara (Team Veronica) tied 23-23
Notes: Irene Dunne ties Carole Lombard for most votes in a single match with 37.
Team Carole has a total of 8 1/2 points to Team Veronica's 1 1/2 points.
Kristen will start week 3 matches on Sunday and I will have the matches posted tomorrow to let everyone know who will be competing.

I'm not a Katharine Hepburn fan at all; in fact, I rather detest her. But, still, I always thought she was rather a universal love. Hard to believe she was defeated so handily...and by Irene Dunne.
As always, fun tourney, Monty.
