Day Four Update

The fourth day of the tournament is in full swing as yesterday began the first round of part 2, featuring the categories funny ladies and singers/dancers. Here is the first day scoring:

The Silent/30's Era:

Defending champion Irene is having little trouble with Luise

There is only one really close match..between Shirley Temple and Hattie McDaniel. The other matches are all blow-outs. Happy to report that my girl Carole Lombard is having no trouble at all, trouncing her My Man Godfrey co-star Gail Patrick 55-10. And that defending champion Irene Dunne is rolling as well, beating the brakes off of Luise Rainer 54-7. Jeanette MacDonald and Mae West have a somewhat close match with Jeanette leading by only 6 votes.

CAROLE LOMBARD 55 GAIL PATRICK 10
MYRNA LOY 51 MARGARET DUMONT 7
JEAN HARLOW 48 MARIE DRESSLER 10
JEAN ARTHUR 47 MARGARET SULLAVAN 14
IRENE DUNNE 54 LUISE RAINER 7
SHIRLEY TEMPLE 29 HATTIE MCDANIEL 29
GINGER ROGERS 35 JOAN BLONDELL 23
JEANETTE MACDONALD 34 MAE WEST 28

THE 40'S ERA
The one and only Judy Garland

Top seed Rosalind Russell is putting it to Jeanne Crain with a thorough beatdown so far, 46-6.
Lucille Ball has stormed back to lead Maureen O'Hara after falling behind early. Jane Wyman and Donna Reed are embroiled in a close match. All Good Things classic movie goddess of the month Teresa Wright is having some trouble with Eve Arden. losing 23-18. And what I thought would be a close match is not as Rita Hayworth is whipping Hedy Lamarr 34-10.

ROSALIND RUSSELL 46 JEANNE CRAIN 6
JANE WYMAN 26 DONNA REED 21
LUCILLE BALL 30 MAUREEN O'HARA 21
EVE ARDEN 23 TERESA WRIGHT 18
JUDY GARLAND 34 MARGARET O'BRIEN 7
BETTY GRABLE 25 JUNE ALLYSON 16
RITA HAYWORTH 34 HEDY LAMARR 10
ANN MILLER 22 VIRGINIA MAYO 15

THE 50'S ERA
Doris has adapted to the 50's for this year's tourney with no problem at all
Another era filled with blow-outs. The lone exception is between Vera-Ellen and Leslie Caron, with Vera holding a 3 point edge. Marilyn Monroe, who famously got knocked out of the first round last year by Gloria Grahame is not gonna have that happen again as she is crushing Joanne Woodward. And Doris Day who competing in the 60's era last year has had little trouble adjusting to life in the 50's as she is handling Jane Russell. Same thing for 60's cross-over Janet Leigh, as she is up big on Jayne Mansfield. And first timer Thelma Ritter is enjoying an easy going match over Eva Marie Saint.

DORIS DAY 29 JANE RUSSELL 18
VERA-ELLEN 21 LESLIE CARON 18
DEBBIE REYNOLDS 30 JANE POWELL 13
CYD CHARISSE 32 DOROTHY DANDRIDGE 10
JUDY HOLLIDAY 34 PIER ANGELI 6
JANET LEIGH 33 JAYNE MANSFIELD 11
MARILYN MONROE 38 JOANNE WOODWARD 8
THELMA RITTER 36 EVA MARIE SAINT 10

THE 60'S ERA
Shirley is quite happy as she is rolling early over Edie Adams

We have one tie at this point and it's between Sandra Dee and Glynis Johns. The premiere match though has to be Ann-Margret and Raquel Welch. Right now Ann has a 8 point advantage. Top seed Julie Andrews is crushing Jeanne Moreau.

JULIE ANDREWS 33 JEANNE MOREAU 6
SHIRLEY JONES 22 RITA MORENO 15
SHIRLEY MACLAINE 30 EDIE ADAMS 9
ANN-MARGRET 22 RAQUEL WELCH 14
NATALIE WOOD 28 STELLA STEVENS 7
HAYLEY MILLS 22 TUESDAY WELD 14
JANE FONDA 24 PATTY DUKE 10
SANDRA DEE 17 GLYNIS JOHNS 17

Voting continues today across all four blogs. Good luck to all the actresses competing.
