Classic Horror Films - Day 3 (HORROR OF DRACULA - 1958)

A new breed of vampire film is ushered in with Hammer Film's lush take on the classic Stoker work. Christopher Lee assumes the role of the count and makes a strong and virile new Prince of Darkness. The story is the same as the countless other versions but there is an emphasis on the wanton lust and increased sexual passion. Lee's Dracula has a formidable foe in Van Helsing (played by Peter Cushing). There are ample beauties around too including Melissa Stribling as Mina and Carol Gaunt as Lucy. Lee and Cushing would return through-out the 60's and even 70's for several sequels but this is the one that works the best.

Dracula making his move on some lovely...
Van Helsing coolly going about his work...
I think the lady is a little perturbed...
